Does Not Appeal To The Prurient Interest
You may remember Topc #2 of this post. Well I found out that there is a sex offender that lives right around the corner from my house. Like, 4 houses away from me. My wife and I thought it strange that there wasn’t any mail notification or anything, because that guy didn’t live in the house last year. So we asked the guy across the street from us, who is a lawyer.
He learned that the guy was found guilty of date rape...12 years ago.
I don’t have an issue letting my kids go outside to play. I had no issue letting my kids go up to that house on Halloween and get candy from the man himself. However, I did think it strange that he was allowed to be there on Halloween. I thought sex offenders weren’t allowed to do Halloween.
Continuing with the sex motif…how ‘bout THIS story? Now, I don’t know exactly what was said or anything, and despite my belief that telling your kids about some of your own escapades is…kinda creepy…but I’m rather stunned at the FELONY charge. It’s not like she used her kids in the demonstration, not like she touched them in that special area and said, “See? Doesn’t that feel nice?” No, the felony charge was going to be for exposing the kids to harmful descriptions. But it was only a misdemeanor for exposed the kids to harmful material. Doesn’t that seem kind of backwards?

If, deep down, it truly is what it appears to be on the surface, that is one messed up situation in Wisconsin. Wow.

That is one of the strangest things I've ever heard.

A sex offender lived down the street from me about 4 years ago. We've moved since then. I found out when I did a search online after reading something about an Amber Alert. I went to the police station and found out what had happened - statutory rape. I was not nervous about having my children out playing, but it did spark lots of talks with them about personal boundaries and safety.
My sister had a sex offender on her street a few years back and her neighborhood was not notified when he moved in.
I was not notified either, but I thought it was not standard protocol to notify neighborhoods of this type of thing. I'm in Oklahoma. My sister was in Texas at the time.
I think it would be great if neighborhoods were notified so parents would be aware.

It was a serious lapse in judgment to discuss sex she's had, that's for sure. But a felony? Good grief.
